Don’t mistake a Business Tax Receipt for a license, you can always verify a State license by visiting our website: www.FlaglerHBA.com/verify.
Be AWARE that licensing is important to you the homeowner. If an unlicensed worker gets hurt in your home they are YOUR responsibility at great financial risk! You personally can also be charged with aiding and abetting unlicensed contracting. Never sign a contract with an unlicensed contractor even if they are hiring licensed contractors to do the work. You will find other articles written by qualified authorities on this subject, call it over-kill, but we believe that the more information you have, the better prepared you will be when researching and hiring a licensed professional. AND making sure they ARE licensed professionals!
Handy men can be helpful around the house, but they do have limitations under the law. They can perform lawn maintenance and landscaping, replace light bulbs and clean gutters for example. They cannot perform any demolition, drywall, painting, electrical or plumbing. For a complete list please see the article “What a Handyman Can and Can’t Do”.
As we embark on the future, take solace in the fact that HBA members will be building you quality housing every day while keeping a watchful eye out for costly regulations; as we have been doing for the last 30 years. We are the Voice of the Housing Industry in Flagler County.
It’s your Home. . . It’s our Profession.
Sincerely,
The Board, Membership & Staff of the Flagler Home Builders Association
